Since Elon Musk bought Twitter in October of last year, they have been coming a number of big app changes, and none of them have been left out of public scrutiny. From its paid subscription system to its new verification process, there are many changes that this new era has brought.

One of the most controversial has revolved around security, and it’s about two-step authentication. This method of login to Twitter allowed receive a message on your Xiaomi mobile (or the device of your choice) before logging in, improving security. With the Musk era, this plus in security has been removed for non-paying users.

Improve the security of Twitter on your Xiaomi mobile

Introducing Twitter Blue, Twitter subscription pay service created by Elon Musk, has today left many users of the app without a security essential: two-step authentication, which becomes a paid feature within your subscription.

We’ve lost a great security feature for our Twitter account on mobile, but we can still follow some tips to improve security on our Xiaomi mobile and prevent someone from accessing the account without our consent.

Thanks to Google, despite not already having this security method on Twitter, yes we can introduce it in our Xiaomi mobile through Google Authenticator, an app from the technology giant that will do the job that Twitter itself used to do.

To activate two-step authentication through Google, we must first download the app, and then do the following:

  • Enter Twitter and access ‘Security and account access’ within the configuration section of your account.
  • Click on ‘Security’ and then on ‘Two-factor authentication’. Select ‘Authentication application’.

  • In the new menu, you will see that allows you to select an application, and it will open Google Authenticator automatically. Memorize the code that appears and enter it on Twitter.

You’ll already have two-factor authentication turned on, and every time you want to log in to Twitter, you will have to enter the code provided by Google Authenticatorwhich changes every 10-15 seconds, greatly improving the security of your account on your Xiaomi mobile and outside of it.

Although Elon Musk made a lot of changes to twitter (some more debatable than others) and has left those who are not subscribed to Twitter Blue Without 2FA, Google once again has tools for our Xiaomi mobile that allow us to continue with safer browsing on the Internet.
