Slight changes
For its Smart Band 7, Xiaomi takes up the aesthetic features of the previous model, with an oval and discreet design on the wrist. The main novelty is at the level of the screen, which is enlarged to facilitate the display of information. We are entitled to a 1.62-inch AMOLED screen (against 1.56 inches on the Band 6) with a better resolution of 326 dpi (definition of 192 by 490 pixels).
With a maximum brightness of 500 cd/m², the Smart Band 7 can be viewed comfortably outdoors, even in direct sunlight. On the other hand, we regret the absence of an ambient light sensor. An always-on mode is included, to check the time at any time or to know if you have received a notification. In addition, we do not really feel the bracelet on a daily basis thanks to its small dimensions and its mass of 13.5 grams.
An effective bracelet, with precise measurements
Xiaomi’s bracelet has the usual accelerometer and gyroscope to measure the number of steps, but also a cardio sensor to track heart rate. The latter proved to be quite accurate during our test. For athletes, 110 sport modes are available. On the other hand, no GPS on this connected bracelet from Xiaomi. You will need to take your smartphone with you for GPS tracking during your workouts.
The Smart Band 7 also has SpO2 tracking, i.e. blood oxygen saturation. Unsurprisingly, count on sleep monitoring and breathing quality during sleep, stress monitoring, or even health monitoring for menstruating people.
As for autonomy, the manufacturer announces up to 14 days of autonomy. During our test, this score was difficult to achieve, especially leaving the always-on mode or activating SpO2 and heart rate monitoring. In this case, it will rather bet on two and a half days. Note that it takes 1h30 to recharge the bracelet.
