AtlasVPN is one of the newer VPNs on the market, but that doesn’t mean its services aren’t great. On the contrary, it offers ultra-competitive prices and has even attracted the attention of market leaders such as North Security (parent company of NordVPN) which bought it in 2021. Even today, AtlasVPN remains the best low VPN -cost and proves it again with this offer on its two-year subscription at 1.71 euros per month.
AtlasVPN is a very young VPN released on the market in 2019 and first designed for mobile, but since its acquisition by North Security in 2021, it has been playing in the big leagues. It doesn’t yet have the experience of market leaders like NordVPN or ExpressVPN, but AtlasVPN positions itself as a low-cost VPN, with competitive pricing and even a free version. At the moment, you can subscribe to it for two years for a ridiculous price and even take advantage of three months free.
AtlasVPN in a nutshell
- IKEv2 and WireGuard protocols
- Good connection speed
- Among the best prices on the market
- A well-stocked free version
Right now, AtlasVPN’s two-year subscription is available for $1.71 per month, and three months are free. Over two years, the total expenditure amounts to 46.05 euros.
The best VPN for beginners
The success of AtlasVPN is explained first of all by its rather complete free version which has attracted several million users in a few years. So it’s the best VPN to start with if you’ve never used one before. Given its relative youth, it only has a fleet of about 750 servers in 42 countries around the world. On the other hand, its connection speed is efficient and remains the same, whether for the free version or the paid version.
Perhaps this is due to the takeover by North Security, but the interface of AtlasVPN is substantially similar to that of NordVPN. It is refined and as soon as we open the application, we directly find the list of countries to which it is possible to connect. You also have the options tab on which we have access to all the security features which are, in reality, not that many. But this further confirms that this VPN is very easy to use.
A complete security solution
In terms of security, AtlasVPN uses the IKEv2 and WireGuard protocols, the latter is the most recommended, as it is better suited for everyday use. You also have several features available such as the kill switch which cuts your internet traffic in the event of an unexpected disconnection, the split-tunneling which allows you to enjoy a faster connection, the multi hop which doubles the encryption and safe-swapexclusive to AtlasVPN, which makes you browse with several different IP addresses to better hide your tracks.
AtlasVPN is great for streaming and torrenting access, offers comprehensive security to protect your data, and even has a no-logs policy. However, the company is based in Delaware, USA, and is therefore subject to surveillance by the 14 Eyes alliance. The latter is an information-sharing agreement between the intelligence and web surveillance services of several countries, including France and the United States. These countries have indeed imposed mandatory data retention legislation. AtlasVPN is therefore not the best choice in terms of privacy.
