Bad news for those who were waiting for Honor’s new high-end smartphones, because these will not be as fast as expected, especially when it comes to recharging.
With 100W fast charging for a small 4600 mAh battery, the Honor Magic 4 Pro and Honor Magic 4 Ultimate were among the fastest smartphones on the market. One would have thought that Honor would continue this momentum and improve its battery even more on the new generation, but that will not be the case in the end.
Indeed, the Honor Magic 5 Pro and Honor Magic 5 Ultimate have just appeared at the 3C certification body (China Compulsory Certification), and this one reveals as usual what to expect for recharging. Unfortunately, Honor seems to have taken a big step backwards in this area, lowering the maximum power that the charger will be able to deliver to the battery.

The Honor Magic 5 Pro will charge slower than expected
3C reveals that the Honor Magic 5 Pro and Ultimate will be satisfied with a fast recharge of only 66 W, which will therefore be much slower than that of the previous generation. PGT-AN10 (the model number of Honor Magic 5 Pro) and PGT-AN20 (it’s Honor Magic 5 Ultimate) will support HW-110600C00 charger, the Honor SuperCharge at 66W.
For a recharge from 0 to 100%, it will therefore probably be necessary to wait a little more than 40 minutes, compared to about 30 minutes for current models. We should know more about this in just a few days, since we remind you that the Magic 5 series should arrive in Europe at the MWC 2023 show, from February 27.
As a reminder, smartphones will be equipped with the recent high-end chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Both devices will obviously focus on the photo like previous generations, with 3 sensors on the back of the Magic 5 ProAnd 4 sensors of 50 MP each on the back of the Magic 5 Ultimate. The details about them are quite vague for the moment, but we know that a periscopic sensor will be there.
