It seems that the battle between ChatGPT and Google has been overtaken on the right by another giant. In this case we are talking about Baidu, the Chinese web giant that plans to launch an AI chatbot service similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT in Marchas reported to Reuters.
And it is that, the launch of the chatbot ChatGPT has turned everything upside down just two months after its grandiose launch and many technology companies like Microsoft are already investing millions to integrate it into their services.
Google He has also recently reported on his new chatbot and a possible way to integrate it with a search engine. Called Apprentice Bard, he will use Google’s LaMDA conversation technology. However, there is no release date yet.
Well, Baidu seems to have gone ahead but not using this chatbot but using your own that affirms that more powerful even than ChatGPT. Baidu plans to launch its named service ERNIE Bot (in English) as a standalone application and gradually merge it with its search engine.
China is moving ahead with artificial intelligence, launching its own web-integrated chatbot in March
Baidu has talked about “propose a controllable learning algorithm and a credible learning algorithm to ensure that the model can formulate reasonable and coherent texts”. For one, a 2021 article details ERNIE’s performance, claiming that the model is superior to all its rivals, including GPT-3, in many tasks.
On the other, in China, chatbots are currently focused on social interactionwhile ChatGPT performs better in other types of tasks more intended for work use, such as programming or content writing.
Exactly what the bot will be capable of is not yet known, but Baidu has already outlined over the years its ambitions for something that actually sounds a lot like ChatGPT, though surely has a different twist.
There is even talk of a greater number of parameters. To contextualize, ChatGPT uses the GPT-3 model, with 175,000 million parameters and its linguistic model back in 2021 already had 260,000 million parameters. Of course, more parameters does not mean more efficiency, but we will have to wait to see this artificial intelligence in operation.
Beijing-based Baidu has been investing heavily in information technology. artificial intelligence, including cloud services, chips and robotaxis (autonomous driving), as it looks to expand its revenue streams and seems to be doing well. We’ll see how this new foray works with their chatbot. For now its shares have skyrocketed by up to 15%.
