Technology News Desk !! Meta-owned WhatsApp has uncovered a critical bug that could affect older installations on various devices that haven’t been updated to the latest software versions. The vulnerability could allow an attacker to exploit a code error known as an integer overflow. WhatsApp said in the update, WhatsApp for Android before v2.22.16.12 has an integer overflow, Business for Android before v2.22.16.12, iOS before v2.22.16.12, iOS before v2.22.16.12 Business for iOS can result in remote code executing in an established video call. In remote code execution, a hacker can execute commands remotely on someone else’s computing device. Remote code execution (RCE) is usually caused by malicious malware downloaded by the host and can occur regardless of the geographic location of the device. The recently revealed vulnerability is termed CVE-2022-36934 with a severity score of 9.8 out of 10 on the CVE scale. WhatsApp also revealed details of another bug that could have caused remote code execution when receiving a prepared video file. Both these vulnerabilities have been patched in the latest version of WhatsApp. WhatsApp on Monday announced that it is releasing call links to make it easier to start and join calls with just one tap. The company has also started testing secure and encrypted group video calls for up to 32 people on WhatsApp.
