Retweeting that tweet, he wrote that the government will investigate the matter. On Twitter, a user has claimed that Realme has by default put the option of ‘Enhanced Intelligent Services’ in the phone, so that users’ data, such as call logs, SMS and location can be tracked. There is no need to ask user permission to turn on this option.
TOI has revealed that the ‘Enhanced Intelligent Services’ feature is enabled by default in Realme smartphones. The most worrying thing in this is that users have not been given the facility not to share their data and there is no option to stop this service. This problem of data theft is not limited to Realme smartphones only, but this feature is also enabled by default in other Android smartphones in the market. BBK Electronics owns all these smartphone brands.
What is Enhanced Intelligent Services
Under this feature, the company collects some information from the users’ devices in the name of increasing the service. This information can save users’ app usage data, location information, calendar events, SMS and missed calls data. However, the Realme company has not yet given any answer about how they use the data of Indian users.
