Our selection of the best smartphones below 800 € in 2023

Google Pixel 7 256 GB

The latest smartphone from the American giant offers a very interesting price-quality ratio, an atypical design and a processor optimized for artificial intelligence. The AI improves the quality of the photos which was already excellent with the Pixel 6. The Google Pixel 7 also offers above-average autonomy.

This smartphone will conquer the hearts of lovers of a pure Android experience. It has a 6.3-inch OLED screen with Full HD + definition and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Its processor, the Google Tensor G2 is supported by 8 GB of RAM. The photo part consists of a double sensor: a main module of 50 megapixels accompanied by an ultra wide-angle of 12 megapixels.

At less than €800 in the 256 GB version and less than €700 in the 128 GB version, the Pixel 7 is quite simply one of the best Android smartphones on the market.

The + THE –
Satisfactory performance No telephoto lens
A photo part always as qualitative
Good autonomy but could do better
A beautiful screen

Offered from 799 euros at launch, the Xiaomi 12T Pro offers an advantage on paper: the ability to fully recharge in less than 25 minutes thanks to a fast 120W recharge. This smartphone is not intended to replace the Xiaomi 12 Pro, but is a more affordable alternative. However, he does not have much to envy him.

The Xiaomi 12T Pro thus embeds a more recent Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC which is here supported by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The smartphone has a 6.67″ AMOLED screen with an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen offers good brightness, infinite contrast and well-calibrated colors.

For the photo part, the Xiaomi 12T Pro has a 200 MP wide-angle sensor (f / 1.7 aperture), an 8 MP ultra-wide angle (f / 2.2 aperture) and a macro module of 2 PM (f/2.4). The main sensor delivers a good result in terms of detail, but the contrast is less refined than on the Pixel 12 Pro. Overall, however, the result is satisfactory.

Finally, the smartphone has a 5000 mAh battery which provides a day to two days of autonomy as we saw during our test of the Xiaomi 12T Pro.

The + THE –
Nice screen The absence of a telephoto lens
Good autonomy No wireless charging
The power of the SoC No IP68 certification
Very very fast charging

The Galaxy S22 is the most affordable high-end Samsung smartphone launched in the spring of 2022. It features the same chip as the S22 Ultra, namely the Exynos 2200 supported by 8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of internal storage.

The Galaxy S22 therefore does not suffer from any discrimination in terms of performance. The smartphone is just as powerful as the most advanced model in the range. For the rest, it has a 6.1-inch Full HD + screen, well calibrated and very fluid (120 Hz). Its 3700 mAh battery lasts a full day and is compatible with 25W fast charging.

Finally, the photo part is provided by a triple sensor of 50 + 12 + 10 megapixels which correspond respectively to the wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle and telephoto modules (3x optical zoom). Our Galaxy S22 test shows that the smartphone gives very good photo results.

The + THE –
The screen very well calibrated in natural mode and very fluid The average performance of the Exynos 2200, even with greedy energy profiles
Good battery life at stake… for hardcore gamers! Fast charging… not very fast

Although other models from the manufacturer are excellent and relevant this year and despite its small format, the iPhone 13 mini remains “the” best Apple smartphone below 800 euros in 2023. It benefits from a Super Retina XDR screen of superb quality, in all-screen OLED. Its resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels at 476 dpi, its HDR and True Tone compatibility make the smartphone an excellent choice for browsing or watching multimedia content in good conditions.

On the photo side, there is a 12 Mpx wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 120° field of view. As always with Apple, it is above all the A15 Bionic chip that works wonders in terms of photos, but also in terms of raw performance. This new 6-core CPU, with 2 performance cores and 4 energy-efficient cores, delivers incredible performance.

Apple advertises up to 17 hours of video playback, 13 hours of video streaming, and up to 55 hours of audio playback, which is excellent. The smartphone is obviously 5G compatible, with an IP68 protection index.

The + THE –
Good battery life for its size
Few hardware upgrades
Nice bright screen 60Hz screen
IP68 certified Lens protruding from frame
Dual eSIM digital zoom

OnePlus 10 Pro 256GB

The OnePlus 10 Pro is the brand’s most premium smartphone. Launched in April 2022 in France at the recommended price of 999 euros, it is now available for less than 800 euros. It is therefore a smartphone with an excellent quality-price ratio that has great assets to offer. It features Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.

This is supported by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. Enough to enjoy impeccable performance for all everyday tasks and especially for video games. The OnePlus 10 Pro has a 6.7-inch AMOLED LTPO screen in QHD+ definition with a dynamic refresh rate that can go from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. The screen offers good brightness, excellent contrast and well-calibrated colors .

As for the photo, the smartphone has a wide-angle of 48 MP, an ultra-wide-angle of 50 MP and a telephoto of 8 MP with a 3X optical zoom. At the front, there is a 32 MP photo sensor.

Finally, the last asset of the OnePlus 10 Pro is its fast charging of 80W wired and 50W wireless. It allows its 5000 mAh battery to recharge in just half an hour. Do not hesitate to read our OnePlus 10 Pro test to find out everything about the smartphone.

The + THE –
Attractive design No big improvement compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro
The best screen on the market Photo module improving but not yet up to expectations
