Thanks to a less powerful but better autonomy version, BMW announces that its iX1 is now finally eligible for the ecological bonus thanks to a lower price tag.
Should we go back once again to Tesla’s pricing strategy which has put all manufacturers at bay? With already attractive prices that have dropped in waves over the past few months, the American firm’s models are hard to beat on the price/equipment ratio. Not to mention the power and autonomy, generally also superior.
If all the competitors cannot follow, this at least has the advantage of reshuffling the cards a little and pushing the manufacturers to do everything to lower the prices. And to bring their – or at least one – models into the ecological bonus. As offered on the French market. Namely 5,000 euros for vehicles that are displayed under 47,000 euros (within the limit of 27% of the purchase price).
After Ford, which shoehorned its Mach-E into the bonus, Volvo, which offered a version of its eligible XC40, and Skoda, which lowered the price of its Enyaq iV 80, it’s BMW’s turn to offer his iX1 with the bonus.

27% less on the iX1
iX1 eDrive20. Remember this name, because it is the name of the only iX1 in the range eligible for the ecological bonus. Afterwards, it’s up to you not to want to take advantage of the 5000 euros offered by the government (at least until the end of 2023). His price ? Everything stacks under 47,000 euros, or 46,900 euros. From which we deduct the 5,000 euros, i.e. a purchase price of 41,900 euros. When you know that until now it was offered from 57,150 euros, this is quite a drop: 18% before deducting the bonus, and 27 euros once the bonus has been removed, interesting.
And for those who prefer long-term rental, this BMW iX1 is offered in LLD in M Sport finish and Premium Pack at 490 euros per month of rent without contribution (36 rents / 30,000 km).

BMW iX1 eDrive20

BMW iX1 eDrive20
Up to 475 km range
So let’s get to the facts: what does this BMW iX1 eDrive20 offer for 41,900 euros? On the menu, a 64.7 kWh battery from fifth-generation eDrive systems (the 6th generation will arrive in 2025 and models from the BMW Vision Neue Klasse concept presented at the Munich show): it’s the same as on the BMW iX1 eDrive30. The newcomer offers here from 430 to 475 km of autonomy, where the higher version with four-wheel drive does not exceed 439 km. As for the Model Y Propulsion, it also displays a little less well, with 455 km WLTP.
On the power side, we are talking about 150 kW, or 204 horsepower, and a torque of 247 Nm. Enough to propel (in the literal sense of the term, there is only one engine left, at the rear) this iX1 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds, for a maximum speed limited to 170 km/h.
As for charging, it is capped as standard in alternating current at 11 kW (0 to 100% in 6:30), with the possibility of opting for 22 kW as an option. But be careful, you will then probably get out of the 47,000 euros and therefore the bonus. In direct current, the iX1 eDrive20 can recharge up to 130 kW, enough to recover from 10 to 80% charge in 29 minutes.

Already on sale
Who says BMW, necessarily says premium. And this BMW iX1 eDrive20 does not seem to be an exception to the rule with very complete equipment despite its sharply reduced price. BMW Maps navigation, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, parking assistance with reversing camera… There is also the BMW iDrive with Quick Select with its very beautiful curved screen which integrates two separate screens under the same panel: the 10-meter instrument panel, 25 inches and the 10.7-inch central infotainment one. The new OS 9 operating system is also part of it, allowing both to receive updates and also to download third-party applications.
If at the time of writing these lines it was not yet on the BMW online configurator, this new iX1 eDrive20 is announced by the brand as already available for order. However, it will not be available immediately, as production at the Regensburg plant will begin next November.
