boAt Xtend Smartwatch Review: This smartwatch comes with a host of health features, sports mode including SpO2 blood oxygen level tracker and heart rate monitoring system. Its direct competition is with Redmi Watch and Realme Watch. We know whether this new smartwatch from boAt has lived up to our expectations or not?
In the last few months, the demand for wearables including smartwatches and fitness bands has increased significantly in India. According to the IDC report in the first quarter of the year, shipments of wearables in India have grown by more than 300 percent. In such a situation, companies making many accessories and electronic products are launching their devices.
boAt, a brand popular for its accessories and headphones, has introduced the Xtend smartwatch. This smartwatch comes with a variety of health features, sports mode including SpO2 blood oxygen level tracker and heart rate monitoring system. Its direct competition is with Redmi Watch and Realme Watch. Let us know whether this new smartwatch from boAt has lived up to our expectations or not?
Design
Talking about the design of boAt Xtend Smart Watch, its look is largely inspired by Apple Watch. At a glance, you will feel it like Apple Watch. The design of the square shape is available in this smartwatch. Also, its four sides are flat and curved edges have been given. Looking at its design, it seems that it is quite clean and simple. A common user can also like seeing this smartwatch at first sight. It comes in four color options – Deep Blue, Olive Green, Pitch Black and Sandy Cream. The unit we have reviewed is in deep blue color. We have found its color attractive.
The case of the boAt Xtend is made of plastic material, but it will not look cheap at all. Its design has been fine-tuned (design tune doesn’t feel right). Also, the finishing is also quite good. Sensors and charging points have been given in the back of this smartwatch . Talking about its strap, it is made of soft silicone material. You can detach the strap. The strap is very comfortable and you can wear it all day long. The display size of the smartwatch is 42mm and LCD panel has been used in it. Due to the large display, you will not have any problem in viewing notifications and health monitoring, you will see every detail easily.
performance
To connect this smartwatch with your smartphone, the user needs to download the boAt Wave app from the Google Play Store. As soon as you start the watch, it will ask you to download the app. Once the app is downloaded, you will be able to pair it. Once paired, you will not need to pair it again. It will automatically connect as soon as it comes in contact with the phone. However, for this you have to keep your smartphone’s Bluetooth on. Plus, it syncs your health and sports data with the app.
You can change the watch face of boAt Xtend through the app and by going to the watch’s settings option. Not only this, there will also be an option to download new watch faces in the app. After connecting with the app, you need to keep your smartphone’s GPS on. With this, it will be able to track your exercise and movement like jogging, running. It comes with a variety of activity trackers, including step count, swimming, running (outdoor and indoor), jogging, etc.
While using this watch, we felt that it was making some mistakes in step counting. Also, it does not update the steps in real time. When you take a few steps, then it reflects your steps. We also did not like its battery back-up. After charging once, you will be able to use this watch for three to four days only. It takes 1 hour for full charge. With this, the company has given a magnetic charger, which sticks to its back panel. The smartwatch comes with 50ATM water resistant feature. You can also go swimming by wearing it.
Talking about the display of the smartwatch, despite having an LCD panel, it works well in daylight or outdoors. You can set the brightness of the display according to your own. Whether indoor or outdoor, we had no problem reading the notifications and trackers on the display. Its fonts look very clear. You will get the option to disconnect or silence the call in this smartwatch when an incoming call is received. The message is not displayed in the notification of the message. For this, you have to use the messaging app of the smartphone. It will only tell from where and on which app the message has been received.
health monitoring
The smartwatch comes with features like heart rate monitoring, SpO2 blood oxygen level tracker, sleep tracker and stress measurement. Also, there are 14 types of sports modes, which you can use for exercise. Due to the corona virus epidemic, it has become a habit among people to track blood oxygen level. However, doctors recommend that an oximeter is the only reliable device to track accurate blood-oxygen levels. However, your body’s blood oxygen level can also be checked through smartwatches and fitness bands.
The SpO2 tracker given in this smartwatch works properly. We tallied this up with the oximeter’s readings, both of which were getting the same readings. At the same time, it also monitors real time sleep and heart rate. You can see the heart rate given in the device and its reading in the sleep tracker. Also, it will also show up in the boAt Wave app when the device is synced with the app.
Would buying boAt Xtend be profitable?
This smartwatch comes at a price of Rs 2,499. In this price range, you get many types of health monitoring features, sports features etc. Talking about budget smartwatches of other brands, they come in the price range of Rs 3 thousand. You will like its design as well as it feels comfortable to wear. The color combination (deep blue) of the smartwatch looks quite attractive. In view, it gives the feel of an expensive smart watch. What we did not like about it is that its battery does not last much. You have to charge the battery every fourth day. Also, you will not be able to read the messages coming in it on its display. For this you have to go to the smartphone.
