In combination with Bosch’s intelligent system, the eBike Flow application has some new useful features for cyclists: finer settings for certain modes and new route profiles are on the menu today.

If you are the owner of an electric bike equipped by Bosch (motor, battery, screen), you are aware that a mobile application (eBike Connect) is available to you to consult a whole lot of information from conduct. Since 2022, a new, more advanced application has emerged: eBike Flow, which is intrinsically linked to Bosch’s famous “intelligent system” connected solution.

Over time, this technology has made its way onto all Bosch components. Today, it is found everywhere, except on entry-level motors (Active Line and Active Line Plus) and batteries (PowerPack 300, 400 and 500). All other versions are entitled to two choices: either the second-generation system or the intelligent system.

Always more customizable

The latter brings a certain advantage: it makes it possible to connect the battery, the remote control, the motorization and the ABS of the manufacturer, to implement new functionalities there in the short, medium and long term. Making corrections is also part of its attributes.

Bosch has just updated its application, which allows you to refine your driving experience in two types of situation: for mountain biking and cycling. Previously pre-configured and fixed by the brand, the eMTB and Tour+ riding modes can now be personalized as you see fit.

Thus, you now have control over the dynamism, power, speed and even the torque of your electric bike: all this data can be configured, at the mano, within the app. If you decide, for example, to limit the torque of your VAE, then it will be less dynamic on the slope, when starting or on occasions.

Routes for speedbikes

In fact, Bosch offers the driver the freedom to better control the behavior of his cycle according to the sections of his route. Need full engine power in demanding terrain? Configure it. Conversely, the next 5 km portion remains calmer? So lower your demands and save battery.

All other modes (Race, Sport, Cargo, Turbo, Auto, Tour and Eco) can already be customized in this way.

Bosch is also tackling route profiles and cartographic details: a new “Speed” profile is appearing, specially designed for speedbikes. A suitable route calculation is offered to the user.

Satellite, VVTAE route and e-bike density map (heat map): these three mapping variants have the merit of completing the experience. The first one ” provides a better overview and more accurate information about the environment “Explains the brand in a press release, without giving more details.

A questionable heatmap

The second displays the mountain bike trails located in the surroundings, to help cyclists discover new horizons. ” E-MTB routes are color coded according to level of difficulty “Explains Bosch.

Finally, theheat mapindicates the routes that eBike users like to take regularly. It obviously does not take into account other cyclists, those who ride a mechanical bicycle. Another question arises: thisheat mapdoes it only include users with Bosch components? If this is the case, this necessarily limits the panel of people taken into account…

Electric bike: we tested Bosch's new ABS and it was really impressive

We were able to test Bosch’s ABS (anti-lock braking) system for electric bikes for a morning, over a course of about twenty kilometres. What are our first impressions? Is it relevant? Here is a…
