ChatGPT, the popular OpenAI chatbot, has been showing some users other people’s chat history due to a failure “in open source software”, as revealed Bloomberg through company spokespersons. The AI that allows queries was inoperative last Monday for this reason, although it has now returned to normal with some exceptions.
The platform, specifically, has a section called ‘Chat history’ that is located in the side tab, and that allows you to see the conversations that have been carried out with the AI. Some people, however, they noticed that in that same section there were chats that they had not previously maintained with ChatGPT.
One user on Reddit, for example, saw how the history section of ChatGPT featured headlines detailing inquiries about Xi Jinping, the president of China, and Chinese ideology. Another, on Twitter, shared a screenshot with conversations in other languages. They were, in effect, queries that other people had made.
“When I logged into my account (on ChatGPT), I noticed some strange titles in the chat history that were definitely not mine. There was a ton of content in Korean, including searches on Korean acupuncture and other similar topics. I’m sure I never started any of these conversations, and I don’t even speak Korean,” another Reddit user says.
Fortunately, and as indicated by an OpenAI spokesperson to Bloombergthis failure only allowed some users to see the chat history titles, and not the entire chats. The company also disabled access to fix this bug. ChatGPT is currently working normally, but chat history is still temporarily suspended for some. They may see this message in the sidebar: “History is temporarily unavailable. We are working to restore this feature as soon as possible.”
ChatGPT Plus has also been showing email addresses of other users
Some users of ChatGPT Plus, the paid version of the AI that allows, among other advantages, to test GPT-4, have also been experiencing a similar bug. As revealed PC MagheThe platform has been showing email addresses of other users when someone tried to subscribe to the service.
A user has confirmed to the aforementioned medium that he was able to see up to four different email addresses when refreshing the ChatGPT page to try to solve the error. Other people have also reported the same problem. OpenAI also seems to have fixed this bug.
