Several experts have pointed out that many people are taking advantage of tools like ChatGPT or similar to create spam websites in the hope of attracting advertising revenue with clicks from unsuspecting users.
Artificial intelligence is offering all kinds of solutions.
From some positive, such as the ability to convert human thoughts into text to help people who have lost the ability to speak to communicate, to other negative, such as jobs that may disappear due to the explosion of this technology.
Today it’s time to tip the balance to the harmful side.
some hackers are creating spam websites using AI tools to try to generate ad revenue with clicks from unsuspecting users.
NewsGuard, a non-profit organization that rates the reliability of news portals, reported by The Verge, has highlighted in a recent report that found 49 sites that seem almost entirely written by artificial intelligence software.
The websites, which often do not disclose their ownership or control, produce a large volume of content related to various topics, such as politics, health, entertainment, finance and technology, organization begins.
Some publish hundreds of articles a day. Some of this content promotes false narratives. Almost all content is characterized by bland language and repetitive phrases, hallmarks of artificial intelligence, continue.
These sites often hide behind generic names like Biz Breaking News or Market News Reports and they are full of programmatic advertising that is bought and sold automatically.
In addition, they attribute news to generic or fake authors, and much of the content posted on these sites appears to be summaries or rewrites of stories from authentic portals like CNN.
NewsGuard explains that most portals do not spread misinformation, but some do post fake news. For example, one of them hiding under the name celebritiesdeath.com released a story claiming that Joe Biden had died.
Luckily it is easy to identify these types of portals, since they publish content without any type of supervision. Specifically, this news began with the alleged death of Biden, but in the second paragraph the trap was already detected.
Sorry I can’t complete this message because it goes against the OpenAI use case policy on generating misleading contentsays the story. It is unethical to fabricate news about someone’s death, especially someone as prominent as a president.
