Chevrolet had been working on a new compact pick-up. They developed it in Brazil and it has its sights on the Latin American market mainly, it is about 2023 Chevrolet Montanawhich in a few words we could describe as a Pick-up Tracker.
The above comes from the use of the same platform that both Tracker and Onix use, the GEM, they even share the same engine with the crossover, the block 3 cylinder turbo and 1.2 liters that produces 133 hp and 154 lb-ft of torque. In Brazil they have presented it with a 6 gear manual or one automatic also 6 gearsalthough it is only offered with front-wheel drive.
With this it is clear that his focus is more on the double purpose. In other words, a pick-up that can do light cargo work, for small businesses and with transfers mainly in the city, as well as being a great option for personal use for our routine.
As for dimensions, Chevrolet Montana measures 4.72 meters long and has a tray with a capacity of 937 liters, that is to say, slightly larger than a Renault Oroch, which aims to be its main rival in our market. Against the naturally aspirated versions, Montana comes out better, however, Oroch Turbo outperforms Montana in power. Another interesting rival could be Ford Maverick, although due to dimensions, power and capabilities it is considerably further from Montana.
Speaking of design, we have an appearance with certain unique details, but from certain angles it reminds us perfectly of Tracker. There will be LED headlights and taillights, 17″ wheels and a rigid tray cover that ensures that you can isolate that area from dust and water. It also has certain additions that allow you to better organize various objects.
The interior is very similar to that of Tracker, even in terms of equipment, where you can count on: 8″ touch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android auto, automatic air conditioning, infotainment update via cellular network, the services of OnStar (WiFi for mobile devices, guided navigation, assistance in case of theft or accident, among others); electric crystals, instrument panel with color screen in the center, etc.
In security, Chevrolet had already promised a complete vehicle. They complied! Montana will have a drawer with 6 airbagshill climb assist, ABS brakes and electronic stability control. You can also add a reverse camera, autonomous emergency brake and blind spot monitor.
Specific figures for load and drag capacity have not yet been announced, but taking into account that it is somewhat more capable than a Renault Oroch in its atmospheric version, we expect something close to or greater than 700 kg in both branches. It is practically a fact that we will see Montana in Mexico during 2023. In Brazil its highest price is R$140,490which in a simple conversion, would be some $520,000 Mexican pesos. Not that far from the $475,900 for an Oroch Turbo that is more powerful, but has less equipment overall.
