More and more countries are joining the decision to ban flavored vapers within its borders. Now it’s China’s turn; that like New Zealand or even the European Union itself, which drafted a proposal in this regard last June, bases its decision on concern for the health of the youngest.
And it is that, sometimes, the electronic cigarettes They are wrongly presented as the safe alternative to conventional ones. This has led to consumers increasingly younger, which can be left alone in vaping or used as a springboard towards tobacco. In addition, the fact that there are flavored vapers makes them even more attractive to this type of public.
So while China will continue to sell vapers from tobacco, in its new law prohibits the sale of any of the flavor alternatives. Logically, this has generated great indignation in the companies in the sector, since these are the ones that make up the largest bulk of their sales. However, the government has held its own despite the complaints, and flavored vapers have been out of the market since last October 1.
The dangers of flavored vapers
Most vapers contain nicotine, with which they entail the same damages as this one. However, even those without it can be dangerous for other reasons.
To begin with, most formulas contain propylene glycol, a compound that causes chronic inflammation of the bronchial mucosa in the short term. As for their long-term effects, they are not known, so even worse effects cannot be ruled out. In addition, it also causes asthma attacks in childrenhence they are a really susceptible public, whether they are the ones who vape or if they do it passively.
On the other hand, carbonyls have been detected in the vapor of flavored vapers, such as formaldehyde or acetaldehyde, both considered highly carcinogenic substances. And there are also some heavy metals. Finally, confident of its supposed safety, consumers can smoke for much longer.
This does not mean that conventional cigarettes are better, far from it. It simply indicates that this supposed safer option also entails serious damage.
And, as the countries that have already banned these devices have anticipated, the youngest are the most affected. The brain continues to mature and develop well into your 20s, so nicotine can damage this organ even more than adults. And also the rest of the substances mentioned above. But, in addition, being introduced so young in this world, it is suspected that can fall into tobacco vapers and, from there, in the conventional cigarettes.
It is true that there quite controversial at this point, since some studies indicate that this change from flavored vapers to tobacco does not really take place. Even so, given that they do not imply any benefit and other studies do find that link, many governments prefer not to risk it.
China’s decision on e-cigarettes
In fact, China has already been trying for several years control the e-cigarette business. It all started three years ago, when the online sale of any variety of these products was banned.
Later in May of this same year 2022the sale of flavored and tobacco vapers began to be submitted to the same regulations as conventional cigarettes. Shares of Chinese e-cigarette companies began plummeting, creating a stir. But that hasn’t stopped the Chinese government from taking the decision to go one step further.
Guided by the search for the health of the youngest, it has finally chosen to ban flavored vapers. Teenagers find it much more appealing to smoke melon-flavored vapor than one that only taste of tabaceither. Therefore, even though they are apparently the most innocent, they are actually the most dangerous. We will see which more countries continue to join an initiative that is increasingly consolidated throughout the globe.
