Nvidia will apply its know-how in artificial intelligence image enhancement to online videos. What definitely fix compression problems on YouTube?

Presented at CES, Nvidia’s RTX Video Super Resolution technology is very promising on paper. Like DLSS or the upscale offered on Shield, this technology promises to improve the image quality of online videos using AI.

To use it, all you need is a PC equipped with a GeForce RTX 3000 or 4000 from Nvidia (RTX 2000s in the future) and videos on online services such as Netflix, YouTube or Twitch will appear with better quality thanks to an increase in definition.

The launch is coming

This function was only announced by Nvidia and we were waiting for its availability. This is fast approaching since version 110 of Google Chrome includes support for this new technology.

The only thing missing is official support from Nvidia through its drivers and we now know that this will happen with the R530 version of the drivers. The deployment is scheduled for this month of February, so we are only a few days away from the launch.

Nvidia specifies that the use of this technology should very logically increase the consumption of the machine by using the GPU. The firm has therefore decided to automatically deactivate its use on battery-powered laptops.
