Farmerama was released in October 2009 and became one of the most popular games of its genre. By June 2011, it had more than 30 million registered users and was available in more than 30 different languages.
Bigpoint has released a downloadable version of the game that can be installed on any computer. This is great news, as the game significantly reduces loading times and makes the games smoother. What users did not like at all is that you can practically continue playing the browser version.
How to continue playing Farmerama in the browser
Many are reporting that when they log in, they are presented with a screen that “forces” them to download the client, ie the desktop version. Also, when you sign up, it only gives you the option to download the software, there is no option to use the browser version. It also does not allow you to return to the main screen of the website.
The developers’ idea is not new, it is a measure to pressure the download and installation of the game. This is not the first time that a browser game uses this tactic for a game. But, there is a way to avoid downloading the program and thus continue enjoying the browser version.
If you get a window that “forces” you to download the game, you can skip it. You have to follow these steps:
- Go to the URL bar.
- Delete all items that appear except the main web address.
- Now, we return to the main page of the game. You can click on this link, it will be easier for you.
- We now have to click on the “Connect” button to log in.
- It will load the game without any major problems in the browser version.
There is currently no other way to access the web version of the game, unfortunately. It seems that Bigpoint is keen to get us to install the desktop version. Even if we manage to load the online version, we are presented with a large button to download the Windows version of the game.
Although many insist on using the browser version, it does not seem like the most interesting option. According to the developers, the desktop version works much better, guaranteeing faster loading times and smoother games. Insisting on the browser version is pointless if we want to enjoy the game more.
Regarding this client, the resources are not very clear, but it does not seem that we will need a large computer. Bigpoint indicates that it can be installed on computers with Windows 7 operating system or higher. There are not many computers with W7 at present, since Microsoft has not offered support for it for years.
The Windows version of the game installs in no time and takes up only about 70 MB. If it really does what it promises, running better and smoother, you should consider using this version of the game.
