Like many other players, you have surely already rushed to Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom when it was released. Be careful, however, if you have fallen for the physical version: we strongly advise you to install the update which will launch at startup. We explain why.
Impossible to miss. Today is the release day of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. After 5 years of waiting, fans of the saga can finally get their hands on the game which is already shaping up to be the strongest competition for the title of GOTY. The craze is now at its height on social networks as in stores… to the point, perhaps, of forgetting a very important detail.
Indeed, if you bought the physical version of the game, you may have noticed that it already offers you an update even before you launch it. This is completely normal: this is the first patch, called 1.1.0, deployed by Nintendo a few days ago and which resolves some performance issues with its new title. You may have already noticed this if you have already launched Tears of the Kingdom. During certain passages, the Switch has a hard time following.

This first patch of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is very important
The problems are particularly noticeable when many elements are on the screen, especially particle effects, smoke or even light. It happens then that the console struggles to reach 30 FPS, or even at times that it goes into the freezer. Thanks to this first patch, Nintendo therefore improves the integration of FSR, AMD’s technology which is used specifically to improve the framerate of the game by reducing its resource requirements.
This is why it is crucial to download this update without delay: it will significantly improve your gaming experience. Note that you don’t have to do anything if you bought the game in dematerialized version: it is already up to date. If you own the physical version, on the other hand, all you have to do is hover over the game window from the main menu, press the + button, then select To update.
