We have been hearing for several weeks about the Google Pixel 6a And although the rumors are getting stronger, we have even been able to see renders of the possible design, the latest news is not positive. While many of us eagerly awaited an upcoming launch, everything seems to indicate that the cheap mobile from the American firm will have to wait.
The last quarter of 2021 was marked by the arrival of Google’s high-end and everything indicated that we would see the new device during the month of May. However, the production of microchips could again have great effects on one of the most anticipated smartphones and we will have to be patient to see it come true.
Launch is delayed
Jon Prosser has been in charge of revealing this information, as the expert has learned, until the end of July we may not know anything more about the Google Pixel 6a. So the plans to change the schedule by Google would be repeated. We remember that both the Pixel 5a and the Pixel 4a were also presented in the middle of summer, specifically in August.
The semiconductor problem has not come to an end and the interest in integrating the same top-of-the-range processor from Google, in the mid-range, leads them to be forced to this delay. As demand has increased, since a few weeks ago we could get hold of the phones that make up the Google Tensor Processor in Spain and in other markets, the calculations have been modified.
The intention is to make an equally capable smartphone, but for a lower price. For this reason, not only the processor would be the only thing identical, since of course it will have all the extras that the Pixel 6 benefit from in software and there would not be too many differences in the rest of the elements. The delays could also divide Google’s presentations or postpone the Pixel Watch, its first own smartwatch that rumors do not stop happening.
What we know for now
Although the launch date is in the air and seems increasingly distant, the truth is that we already have some indications of what the Pixel 6a could offer. A smartphone that will go on to use a 6.62-inch OLED-panel with a frequency of 90Hz, which fits within the plans of the vast majority of the mid-range today. We could find it in two options of 6 or 8 GB of RAM, along with 128 GB of storage.
Also, I would have a old familiar sensor, the 12 Mpx Sony IMX363 that we could see in the Pixel 5 leaving more than satisfactory results. It is accompanied by the same 12 Mpx ultra wide angle and ahead, the 8 Mpx selfie camera. As for the video, the optical stabilizer is present again, as in other Pixel a series smartphones. Last but not least, it is said that it will have a 4,500 mAh battery, practically identical to that of the Pixel 6, but with 20W fast charging. We remember that for now they are only rumors and from here to their presentation several aspects could change.
