On May 10 of this same year we told you that rumors were beginning to be made that WhatsApp was testing the edition of messages sent to other contacts, a feature that has finally been made official and it’s starting to reach some users via the latest app update.
We have already been able to test it and we are going to tell you how it works, but it is true that many other users have not yet received this update on their computers. Even so, everything indicates that over the next few days it will be deployed progressively so that we can all use it on our computers, fantastic news that many of us were waiting for.
Editing messages on WhatsApp is finally a reality
Finally, and after a long wait, we will be able to edit messages on WhatsApp. This represents one of the biggest changes within the application when it comes to writing messages, although it has some limitations that you should be aware of. The first, and most important, is that the time to edit them is limited: You will have 15 minutes to do it.
Once that period has passed, the menu option will disappear and we will not be able to edit the message, a quite logical limitation to avoid misunderstandings in conversations. And the second is that the text itself will display the name “Edited” next to the messageso we will not be able to hide that we have modified its content.
That said, the way to edit messages in WhatsApp can be executed as follows:
- Once you have sent the message, press and hold on it and, at the top right of the screen, click on “Edit”
- Edit the message at will and accept the changes so that they are registered in the conversation
