Elden Ring is already the best-selling game of 2022 in the United States as well as being the fifth best-seller for the 12-month period ending in February.
Elden Ring has been a big seller for US retailers, according to data from market analysis firm NPD Group.
The From Software game, which launched on February 25, debuted as the best-selling title of the month and year-to-date for 2022, ranked in dollar sales.
As if that were not enough, Elden Ring is also the fifth best-selling title of the 12-month period ending in February 2022, according to what was analyzed by the NPD Mat Piscatella.
The game’s launch month sales were second only to another game released last year, we’re referring to Call of Duty: Vanguard which debuted in November 2021.
On the right path for Elden Ring to become a classic
Elden Ring looks set to be From Software’s most successful game since the studio was created. Its UK release was the biggest release for a game other than FIFA or Call of Duty since Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.
And it’s the sixth largest game on Steam in terms of concurrent players, peaking at over 950,000, more than seven times more than Dark Souls III.
While Elden Ring was February’s best-selling game on Steam and Xbox platforms in the US, it was second only to Horizon Forbidden West on PlayStation consoles.
Dollar sales of Sony’s PS5 version of the game set a new record in the console’s launch month.
