Epic Games, creators of Fortnite, among many other games, have just added another enemy to their list: Samsung. Epic is going to remove Fortnite from the Galaxy Store in retaliation by One UI 6.0 Auto Blocker.
Auto Blocker is an additional security measure for the system, in exchange for limiting functions such as installing applications from outside the stores or ADB connection. The latest Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 bring Auto Blocker active as standardsomething that Epic did not like at all.
Epic protests against Samsung’s Auto Blocker
Samsung mobiles with One UI 6.0 based on Android 14 can activate an additional security protection called Auto Blocker. As the name suggests, it is responsible for shielding the system against common fronts of attackWith Auto Blocker active, the following changes are made:
- Installation of applications from unverified sources is blocked.
- ADB over USB is blocked.
- Images containing malware are blocked in messaging apps.
- System updates via USB are blocked.
Auto Blocker is optional (and can be disabled) but it seems Samsung has opted for now leave it active by default in the configuration of new devicessomething that has been the straw that broke the camel’s back for Epic Games.
