For some, magical, revolutionary, groundbreaking. Others remain more cautious about the expectations of a new product about which Apple does not want to remain indifferent. “You’ve never seen anything like it”, says one of the brand’s slogans on its own website. They remain just 24 hours so that they are officially put on sale in the United States, the first country where it can be purchased in the world.
The fact is that the history of the Apple Vision Pro goes back a long way. So much so that if we travel back in the Applesfera archives we will find a patent very similar to what will be released in stores tomorrow, with a research path with more than 15 years of studies and patents behind it.
For the company, the birth of a new product that in turn gives way to an entire range within the ecosystem is important. So much so that it is preparing its stores for the premiere in style. One of her, the iconic Fifth Avenue store in New Yorkit seems that it will be – as has happened in other releases – the epicenter of the launch.
The Apple Vision Pro icon on Fifth Avenue
This week we traveled to New York accompanying the Rossellimac / Macníficos team to experience and tell you about the launch of the new spatial computing device of those from Cupertino. Last night, visiting the store, we were able to see what the brand may be preparing for the launch.
Where before we found the huge glass cube that housed the illuminated block, now we see some scaffolding that sets up something familiar: the icon that represents the Apple Vision Pro, right on the façade of the cube, in front of the brand logo.
During the night the workers continued working, but if we observe in detail what the silhouette of the icon is made of, we can say without any doubt that it is a giant neon that will light up in some way tonight – in the hours preceding the official sale of the product (around 8:00 tomorrow, New York time).
In the surroundings of the cube We don’t see anything out of the ordinary. The originals skylights that They bring light to the store Underground they continue as always – reminiscent of giant AirTags. The scaffolding in this upper part is only in the front area of the main entrance of the store.
During the time we were in the store, there was no queue or anyone waiting outside – at least visibly – since on this occasion (and as has happened for years with the iPhones themselves) devices can be pre-booked by appointment. The surroundings, beyond the work of the workers, remained very quiet.
However, this store open 24 hours a day. How can we access it if its most common access is closed due to the “works” of the launch? Well, from a side access that is accessed from the side behind the cube itself, much more discreet.
“Prepare yourself”, a store that hides a secret
Upon entering through the side access, we access a part of the store that we know from other occasions, although with less space than usual. Starting because the staircase has been partially covered. It’s curious because it seems there will be some more surprises. Maybe a disassembled screen that will go as EyeSight inside the neon form, or simply a place to store the work material of the small renovation?
Around the staircase, a completely cordoned off section prevents customers from getting close. On one side, the traditional seat trees so common in the last big change in the Apple Store. In the other, a separation from another larger part of the store and a words. “Get ready. Great things are yet to come.”
The part that separates that wall, which is somewhat smaller than the real half of the store, is where the brand’s employees will do Apple Vision Pro demos to customers. The area will have the continuity of the store’s design language, adapted to a work area somewhat removed from the usual commotion.
In the case of the Fifth Avenue Apple Storewhere there is already a space for personalized demos, this location is different: the space where work is already being done will not be used but rather something new is being built, as you can see in the images.
The store, in full swing, continues to run normally while the company prepares for a change with which they think welcome the era of spatial computing. In 24 hours, the first units will reach customers’ hands, and we will tell you from New York how we experienced it.
