Mozilla Firefox has just given a gift to users who are still using Windows 7 or Windows 8. This browser, which is one of the most popular and used in the world, has just announced that it will offer support for these versions of Windows for longer than expected. I had believed at first.
As has been indicated, the new version of Mozilla Firefox to be released in July 2023 will continue to be compatible with both Windows 7 and Windows 8. This means that these two versions of the operating system can continue browsing without problems and using the latest features added.
It must be borne in mind that the launch of Windows 12 is currently rumored and Windows 11 has been on computers for long enough for these two versions to have been forgotten. It’s not just that it makes sense for Mozilla Firefox to drop support as it already has. Google Chrome if not that would be expected.
Contrary to general thought, Mozilla Firefox has decided to disband other browsers such as Google Chrome and will extend support until the third quarter of 2024. Yes, there is already an end of support date and, therefore, when the date is close there will be to start looking for another browser to be updated and support.
Windows 7 and Windows 8 will be officially supported by Mozilla Firefox
Mozilla recognizes that many individuals and organizations are still using Windows 7 and 8, and that these users may not have the resources to upgrade to a newer operating system at this time. Considering this, they will keep updating for both versions of the operating system.
Logically, even if the browser is no longer compatible with the operating system, you can still access the Internet. The only thing that happens when support is no longer offered is that this forces users to use an outdated version that will not have at any time the latest developments that have been or will be integrated into the browser.
The extension of Firefox support for Windows 7 and 8 is certainly welcome news for those who are still using these versions of Microsoft’s operating system or are unable to upgrade to a newer operating system at this time. In case this is your case, we recommend using Firefox.
