Just a month ago, Xiaomi’s latest top of the range, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, was launched in China. With scandalous specifications and a spectacular design, one of the things that most caught our attention was his cameraand it is one of the most outstanding points of the mobile.
That camera module forming a huge circle on the back of the device is made in collaboration with Leica, guaranteeing incredible qualitynatural colors and the most stable video recording.
Today I bring you 5 things about this camera that I want to try as soon as you have the mobile in your hands:
1. The largest sensor ever placed in a smartphone

It is what has sounded the most among the media. The main camera of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra has a 1-inch sensor, and it is the largest that has been incorporated into a mobile phone to date. With him, it allows more light to enterimproving night photography and overall image quality.
In addition, this sensor, manufactured by Sony, It has optical image stabilizer and a resolution of 50MP. With the help of the rest of the cameras, I am sure that I will achieve results worthy of the highest range in photography.
2. The telephoto lens

I am a real fan of telephoto lenses on mobile. I hate digital zoom on photos: they lose quality, I have to do the pincer gesture and I avoid it at all costs at any time, not to mention when it gets dark…
That’s where the telephoto lens comes into play. So that you understand me, I am talking about optical zoom, a type of zoom that does not crop the imagerather the lens is designed with a longer focal length and a narrower width.
The telephoto lens of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra is 120mm, the same as that of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. We have already compared its specifications, but we will have to see How have they managed to differentiate it from its predecessor? in a tangible way, because I am going to take photos of all the buildings in Madrid from the balcony of my house.
3. Leica color modes and filters

Another of the most curious aspects of the collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica are the photography styles offered inside the camera app. The German manufacturer allows you to choose between several filters and two modes, ‘Vibrant’ and ‘Authentic’, where you can see a change in color tones And, contrary to what their names might suggest, the truth is that the ‘Vibrant’ mode seems more muted than the ‘Authentic’. I’ll have to check it out myself.
4. Record video in 8K

Okay, this is going a little overboard. Despite the Xiaomi 12S Ultra has 8K video recordingwhere are we going to reproduce it? I keep thinking that 8K on mobile is more marketing than anything elsebut the truth is that in terms of video recording, I also want to get my hands on it.
If we go down to 4K, we have a bit more leeway in terms of specs, as we have Dolby Vision and 10-bit color depth. If you are someone who has always recorded in 1080p, it is time for us to go to the next level, both you and me.
5. Review photos and videos on the 2K screen

The last thing I want to test about the camera of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra is not part of it, but it shows how integrated it is in the device itself. The panel of this mobile has a 2K resolutiona refresh rate of 120 Hz and a density of 552 pixels per inch.
I want to know how the photos and videos that I have taken with the mobile look on that screen, since it has a 1,500 nits maximum brightness and color accuracy that is virtually indistinguishable from the human eye.
We do not know whether or not the Xiaomi 12S Ultra will arrive in other markets outside of China, and therefore we do not know its release date eitherbut in the case of a high-end of these characteristics, the only thing I hope is to be able to try it at some point, and hopefully sooner rather than later.
Xiaomi, if you are reading me, you have to bring the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
