Fortnite fans will rejoice: it is once again possible to play the famous game on iPhone or iPad. But don’t look for the app on the App Store, because it’s still banned by Apple. Indeed, the manufacturer is continuing its legal battle against Epic Games, the publisher of Fortnite.

But Microsoft has just changed the game by signing an agreement with Epic Games for Fortnite to be offered on the Xbox Cloud Gaming service, available in 26 countries, including France.

To play on iPhone or iPad, all you need is a Microsoft account, an Internet connection and going to Microsoft’s Xbox site.

The game is free, so an Xbox Game Pass subscription is not required. Fortnite is also offered as a cloud version on Android devices and Windows PCs. It is possible to play with a joystick or through the touch screen.

With this free offer, Microsoft is back in the spotlight, facing Sony, which should launch its new PlayStation Plus subscription offers in France in June.

Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic welcomed this agreement and took the opportunity to take a swipe at Apple by insisting on the free game: “ No subscription required, no 30% Apple tax. (No subscription required, no 30% Apple tax).
