With macOS Sonoma there are several features limited to Macs with Apple Silicon!
The differences between Macs with Apple Silicon and Macs with an Intel processor have been made evident, like never before, during Apple’s announcements during WWDC 2023, just a few days ago. At the hardware level, the difference between the two devices is quite considerable and in terms of compatibility with the operating system, there is no better news for users of the older version. After the presentation of macOS Sonoma has been confirmed which features are not available on Intel-based Macs.
In general, Apple has introduced into its ecosystem the version macOS Sonoma or macOS 14 of its operating system for Mac. A new update full of news as interesting as a panel of interactive widgets on the home screen, new dynamic wallpapers, improvements to Safari and new gaming features with a “game mode”.
What’s new exclusively for Macs with Apple silicon
Compared to all the new features, the features limited to Macs with Apple Silicon are few, but you better know them.
Presenter Overlay: This function allows stay in the conversation while sharing our screen in a presentation. This option ensures that the focus stays on the person speaking, and that they can move, walk and speak in front of your content, while displaying them on another screen.
React with hands: By moving your hands in a certain way you can add a reaction that fills the camera frame with fun 3D augmented reality effects like hearts, confetti, fireworks and more. Also, a reaction can be shared with just a hand gesture.
Unlike Presenter Overlay, Is there a way to take advantage of it on Macs with Intel processors?as long as the Continuity Camera is used with iPhone 12 and later versions that recognize patterns to detect gestures.
The game mode: On Macs with Apple Silicon Latency is drastically reduced with wireless accessorieslike AirPods and your favorite controllers, for responsiveness you can feel, because games get top priority on your computer’s CPU and GPU.
Siri: Apple’s famous assistant reacts to the call “Siri” as an alternative to the world famous “Hey Siri”, which we have been used to for years. This feature is currently only available in English and limited to users in Australia, Canada, Great Britain, and the United States.
As happens after each presentation of a new operating system, Apple releases the first beta version for software developers, and that of macOS is already available for download. While the public beta version of macOS Sonoma for the rest of the users will be available a little later. On the other hand, it is important to note that the official version of macOS 14 will not be available until September 2023.
