Why bother completely rewriting a prompt that isn’t precise enough when the AI can correct its response itself? This is precisely what the latest update of Gemini, Google’s chatbot, offers. This brings several new contextual options which allow you to refine a response according to your current needs.
If Gemini is still struggling to catch up on ChatGPT, and we cannot yet compare it to Google Assistant, it is clear that the Mountain View firm is making a series of updates to improve its AI. The last date is intended to save you valuable time, by avoiding you having to rewrite a prompt that turned out to be inaccurate. Indeed, it happens that the AI’s response does not correspond to your expectations, because it is either too long, too short, or completely off the mark.
Gemini now lets you tackle the problem with just one click. To do this, simply highlight the chatbot’s response to reveal a small pen icon. Click on it and you will bring up several options to refine Gemini’s response. Here they are :
- Regenerate
- Shorten
- Extend
- Withdraw

Ask Gemini to generate better answers
Note that these are the 4 options available at any time, but that Gemini also provides a text field in which the user can write a particular request. In this way, he will be able to obtain a response closer to the initial objective from the AI. When a change is made to a response, the chatbot displays the message: “The draft has been modified by the user.”
Be careful though, it may happen that Gemini refuses to execute. Here are some examples of situations in which it will not be possible to modify a response:
- requests that violate Gemini’s policies
- requests to change the design of a response, such as color or font
- requests that are not very specific or do not directly concern the selected answer
- requests that concern responses generated by an extension
- requests that concern code generated by Gemini
- requests that concern images generated by Gemini
Please note that for the moment, this feature is only available on the English version of Gemini.
