Contrary to what one might initially believe, the city of Paris is affected by the impressive Immersive View for Routes function that will land in Google Maps.
For once, Google Maps was one of the applications that got their quarter of an hour of glory during Google I/O 2023. Mountain View has unveiled the “Immersive View for Routes” feature.
The Immersive View option – Immersive View – already made it possible to discover places through photorealistic 3D modeling based on all the imagery data that Google has at its disposal.

This function will be taken further with Immersive View for Routes. You will be able to plan your trip (on foot, by bike or by car) by previewing, through this immersive 3D view, the state of the traffic, the air quality and the weather. The demo was stunning.
The city of Paris finally concerned
Alas, during the opening conference of I/O 2023, Google was content to say that 15 cities were going to be affected by this deployment and only mentioned four.
There was then little hope that a French city would benefit from it. However, at the turn of a round table organized on the sidelines of the presentation, we were able to discover the complete list of cities concerned by Immersive View for Routes, and Paris is on it. A blog post also confirms the information.
Here is the full list:
- amsterdam
- Berlin
- Dublin
- Florence
- Vegas
- London
- Los Angeles
- miami
- new York
- Paris
- san francisco
- San Jose
- Seattle
- Tokyo
- Venice
As a reminder, this deployment in Google Maps is planned “ in the coming months “.
