Google is one of the giants that have understood that artificial intelligence has a major role in improving existing products and services. The Mountain View firm has decided to improve its famous Chrome internet browser with new AI features. macOS users will obviously benefit from it!
Google Chrome is getting an update
Google continues to innovate by integrating artificial intelligence technologies into its Chrome browser, specifically for macOS users. The company recently announced the addition of three new features aimed at simplifying online searches and browsing history.
New search option via Google Lens
The first new feature introduced is a search option via Google Lens directly integrated into the browser’s URL address bar. macOS users can now click on the Google Lens icon to select any element visible in the active tab, including images. The search results are displayed in a sidebar, offering the possibility to further refine the results. This feature is particularly useful for those who want to obtain additional information on specific images or elements present on a web page.
Search browsing history
The second feature allows advanced search in the browsing history. Thanks to the use of natural language, users can search for visited pages even if they have not been bookmarked. Don’t panic, this feature is completely optional and can be disabled, thus ensuring respect for user privacy. Obviously, this option is not available in incognito mode, which preserves the confidentiality of private browsing sessions.
Just go to your history and type something like, “What was that ice cream shop I looked at last week?” and Chrome will show you the relevant pages from your browsing history.
Compare products across all sites
The third innovation is designed to make online shopping easier through product comparison. Google Chrome’s AI can now generate a preview of products displayed across multiple tabs, providing details, key specifications, summaries, and ratings. This feature is ideal for users who compare different products online, allowing them to make more informed purchasing decisions.
Imagine you’re looking for a new portable Bluetooth speaker for an upcoming trip, but the product details and reviews are spread across different pages and websites. Soon, Chrome will offer to generate a comparison table by displaying a suggestion next to your tabs. By bringing together all the essential details – product specifications, features, prices, ratings – in a single tab, you’ll be able to easily compare and make an informed decision without the endless tab switching.
Gradual deployment of features
Google has announced that the rollout of Google Lens will begin in the coming days for users worldwide. As for the features for comparing products across different pages and searching in browsing history, they will be available to US users in the coming weeks. They will roll out to users worldwide after that.
By integrating these AI tools, Google Chrome reaffirms its promise to offer a smarter and more personalized browsing experience to macOS users, which will facilitate access to information and optimize online searches.
