The companies behind the development of today’s main web browsers are aware of the importance of security. Malicious actors are always on the lookout to try to find vulnerabilities in this type of software, as is the case with Chrome.
This is the most widely used browser globally, which is why attackers are especially focused on this application. Fortunately, companies like Google are constantly evolving these applications, as is the case here. We are telling you all this because the firm has just patched the ninth Zero Day vulnerability discovered and exploited so far this year in Chrome.
In this type of software, we increasingly use most private and sensitive data that we transmit in one way or another online. Malicious actors are on the lookout to try to get their hands on it all and somehow make money. It is precisely for this reason that Google has now released emergency security updates that we should install as soon as possible.
All this in order to correct the ninth Google Chrome Zero Day Vulnerability actively exploited this year 2024. Specifically, we are referring to the fact that the search giant has just released an emergency security update to address the security flaw identified as CVE-2024-7971which is currently being actively exploited, which is precisely why it poses such a danger at the moment.
More specifically, we are faced with a type confusion problem that resides in the browser’s own V8 JavaScript engine.
How to protect Chrome from Zero Day vulnerability
In fact, we can say that the company is now fully aware that There is an exploit for this error. This is something that has already been made public, although, as is usual in these cases, it did not share details about the attacks that exploit the problem as such.
And access to those vulnerability details and bug links can remain restricted until most of the users receive the update which has just been released. Also, as we are informed, they will also maintain the restrictions if the error exists in a third-party library on which other projects depend.
We are talking about an existing vulnerability for computers based on Windows and macOS. That is precisely why Google will release updates in the form of a solution for both systems. Basically, this means that to protect ourselves from all of the above, we just have to update our browser as soon as possible.
To achieve this in the simplest way we just have to open the main menu of the program and go to the Help menu option. Then we click on Google Chrome Information so that the new security patch reaches us automatically.
Please note that it may still take a few hours for this update to reach us on its own. This means that we should keep an eye on this menu option to receive it as soon as possible.
