At the inaugural Google I/O 2023 conference, we were able to see how the company focused on artificial intelligence and presented different innovations for its main services such as Google Photos or Maps. But there was also a space dedicated to Gmail when writing emails automatically and also in Drive to better filter the files found here.
And it is that one of the most important innovations that Google presented for Drive in this event is now available. We talk about a new folder called Spam in which all the files will be placed that they receive this category and that they will not be useful to you by gaining in security.
Google Drive launches a spam folder
Many people have a large number of files in Google Drive with little order, and if many documents are usually shared with you, surely sometimes some unwanted ones arrive. And it is that sometimes cybercriminals can even share files with your Gmail address with a link to be able to steal your personal information. This means that Google has established a pre-deletion folder.
Files of dubious origin will end here, as well as contact files that do not interest you. This will be found on the right side of Drive, and you will simply have to drag to the documents that have been shared to you in a strange way. You will have to choose from a list if the reason is because it is spam or because it contains disturbing content, infringes copyrights or contains other illegal activities.

At the bottom of the list there will be an option to block the account that shared the document itself. It will automatically go to this spam folder that It works the same way as Gmail, causing future files with the same characteristics as the first one sent to spam to end up in this same folder.
The files stored here will be automatically deleted after 30 days, being a feature that right now is coming slowly, as has happened in one of my accounts. but officially will arrive on May 24 to all users, although there can always be some surprise.
