Google debuts its Tensor G3, and rounds out the Pixel 8 Pro with exclusive features
To begin, we highlight the design of Google’s new premium smartphone. The Pixel 8 Pro has a fairly consistent aesthetic section, but it awaits some small changes that improve its ergonomics. Now, the edges are more rounded, as is the case with the ends of the OLED panel, which without being a curved screen offers curved corners.
We see another change in the camera module, which maintains its essence in the form of a bar but brings together the sensors in the same shape. When seen from the front, the OLED panel that reaches 6.7 inches, larger than its little brother and with a high resolution of 2992 x 1344 pixels. Google does not forget a refresh rate to match, which naturally reaches 120 hertz.
The ‘brain’ of the new Pixels has been sounding loud for some time, and we will finally have it available. Google launches the G3 Tensionerwhich despite being far from the highest range of Qualcomm or Apple, will perform well enough.
We are used to the optimization of Pixel devices, and with the G3 it will be no less. It is accompanied by generous amounts of memory, without Google having gone crazy: 12 GB of RAM and 128 and 256 GB options for internal storage.
Some very ‘Pro’ cameras to dominate the Android scene
Now, the photographic field is the specialty of this Pixel 8 Pro. The Mountain View firm’s phones always boast in this section, thanks to the Google Camera solutions, but the premium model also adds cameras that promise a lot . To begin with, highlight the 50 megapixel main sensorwhich seems similar to that of the last generation.
It is accompanied by two more cameras: an ultra wide angle that goes from 12 to 48 megapixels, one of the highest resolutions in this type of sensor that also works as a macro. And on the other hand, the telephoto camera, which will allow us to make a optical zoom up to 5xand maintains the high resolution of the wide angle.
Soon we will begin to see the first tests carried out with these cameras, but the magic of Google together with this hardware points ways. One of the features that has made the most impression is the Best Take, with which we can change the faces of a photograph using predefined modes. Magic Editor has improved and now allows you to change the sky and even the position of the people photographed, and the well-known Night Sight works now on video mode.
Following the list of specifications it presents, we find a battery similar to that of the Pixel 7 Pro, with the addition of 50 mAh that leaves it in about 5,050 mAh. Of course, this time we do have a fast charge to match, without reaching the high levels of other manufacturers. Some features such as facial recognition, a fingerprint reader under the screen, stereo speakers and the possibility of wireless charging complete the set.
Something that Google has worked on to surprise the world are the sensors that we discovered during the presentation. We have a temperature sensor capable of measuring body temperature, something we have rarely seen on smartphones.
Versions and prices of the Pixel 8 Pro
Google has made the arrival of the new Pixel official, and the ‘Pro’ model will go on sale next day XX. It will be available in three colors: Sky Blue, Porcelain and Black Obsidian. The price, somewhat raised compared to the previous generation, for which we will have to pay 1,099 euros.
