The Google Pixel 8a could integrate a 5000 mAh battery, a much larger capacity than the Pixel 7a.
Here’s a new rumor that makes your mouth water. The next smartphone expected from Google is logically the Google Pixel 8a, mid-range version of the Google Pixel 8, and successor to the Pixel 7a. We especially wonder, if this new smartphone is well announced by Google, if it will benefit from the same 7 years of updates as the Pixel 8. Now, we understand that it could correct a defect of the Pixel 7a: its autonomy .
Towards a 5000 mAh battery
In a mysterious certification on UL Demko, spotted by MySmartPrice And Android Authority, an unnamed Google smartphone has been spotted with a 4942 mAh battery. It has the model number GH2MB, and Android Authority therefore sees it as a successor to the GHL1X, the model name of the Pixel 7a.
The model number does not appear to match the other possibility, a successor to the Pixel Fold (G9FPL). If it is indeed the Pixel 8a, this would be very good news for the phone’s battery life. We judged the Pixel 7a’s battery life to be just average, and that was one of the smartphone’s flaws. The phone was equipped with a 4385 mAh battery. By going to 4942 mAh, this would be an increase of 12.7% in the battery capacity, and therefore undoubtedly better autonomy as a result.
It’s unclear when Google might unveil its Pixel 8a. The firm could reserve this announcement for its Google I/O conference dedicated to developers, expected for May 2024.
