When Google Chromecast came to a free HDMI on my television, which at that time was not a Smart TV, it revolutionized the way in which I watched movies and series: I could send them directly from my mobile, with a simple touch on the icon that began to appear on most streaming platforms. That Google Chromecast continues to work today, as then. Without a doubt, it is one of the technological devices that has been best used in history.
The original Google Chromecast wasn’t dead
Given the maximum life that Android smartphones tend to have, which is the most they can reach is five years of security updates, it is surprising that Google continues to update a device that has been on the market for almost twice as long. And that’s great news for owners of an original Chromecast, it also sets the stage for what other owners of a media player in the same family should expect.
As we can read in the Chromecast support page, Google has updated all generations, from the first to the last. Of course, do not expect major changes other than the correction of errors, improvements in stability and security; which is just what appears in the changelog of support.
Below you have all the updated Google Chromecast along with its version number and the changes introduced.
Updates arrive wirelessly to all devices once they are connected to the network. There are no visible news for the user, yes a maintenance in the software so that the devices continue to work equally well with all the apps and streaming platforms. Like nine years ago.
