Google’s new feature is perfect if you always forget everything

Since last March Google Contacts has been motivating its users to add the information of their birthday and implementing notifications with this data. Although this function has not yet been popularized in version 4.7.26.x., it will be fully added in the near future and will help us to remember those dates that we always forget and to be able to congratulate all our contacts if they decide to share your birthday publicly.

This function appears after the activation of the home screen widgets “favorite contacts” and “individual contacts” by Google Contacts. It is the ideal function for all those of us who tend to forget until our own anniversary date. We tell you how to use it and all its advantages.

How to use this Google feature

Although social networks can be a good reminder to remember to congratulate our loved ones or acquaintances, many people do not indicate their birthdays on them or have a different date for privacy or other personal preference. In this way, with this new Google option we can congratulate all our contacts without ever forgetting to do so. For this, we must turn on notifications and this feature on our devices. Thus, when we open the “featured” Google Contacts tab, we will find a card to be able to add birthdays right in the section called “For you”.

Specifically, we can save the birthdays of our contacts and they will appear in a specific birthday calendar. In addition, from all Google services they will send us notifications and instructions so that we never forget one of these very special dates again, no matter how careless or forgetful we are. In the same way, if we want to receive congratulations from our contacts and not have to rely on their memory, it will be important not to forget to add our date of birth so that all of them can also make use of this interesting alternative and remember to send us a message on our day.

From the Google contacts tab, clicking on “add birthday”, we will find a fully optimized list UI to be able to add dates in bulk, so if you never want to forget an anniversary again, adding all the special dates from here will be the best for you. A cake icon will appear and you can quickly add the birthdays you’d like to be notified of by scrolling through the days, months, and years.

The newest thing about this new function is that allows you to choose directly from the app of the contacts the birthdays of which you want to be notified, so if one of our contacts has added their birthday, you can add them to receive this notification and thus be able to congratulate them on their special day. As with the Google calendar, if we save some preferences, they will be recorded if we synchronize our Google account so that we are notified on all our devices and never forget to congratulate anyone again.

If the contact we are interested in has established their date of birth, we can select the option “add birthday notification”. So on your special day you will receive the notification on your device of this event. It is necessary to manually add the birthdays of which we want to be notified. Although it may seem expensive at a time, the truth is that this configuration will be saved forever (or until we decide to delete a contact or stop receiving the notification of its anniversary) and it will help us to remember every year to send a message or do a congratulatory call.
