Today we bring you a new story that has just been revealed a former Apple employee who used to work with Steve and accidentally stole the MacBook of Apple’s then CEO.
In an episode of the podcast The Eavesdrop Hector Rodriguez’s former Apple advertising vice president Andy Miller has shared An incredible story about the accidental theft of a MacBook and mouse from Apple co-founder Steve Jobs during a heated meeting in the office of the late Apple CEO.
Stealing Steve Jobs’ MacBook was not a good idea
Andy Miller joined Apple after the apple company bought his advertising company Quattro Wireless for $275 million in late 2009who had since reported directly to Jobs. Miller remained at Apple until late 2011 after leading Apple’s mobile advertising group that created iAd.
In this podcast Miller reveals how Apple acquired his companywhich took place in a meeting with Jobs himself in which he ended up accepting an offer somewhat lower than what he had planned.
He then started working on Apple’s ad platform, his goal was to create sample ads that will demonstrate the potential of the iAd platformMiller and company created several ads that poked fun at ads from other companies like McDonald’s and presented them to Apple’s executive team.
After about ten minutes, everyone was laughing except for Steve, I thought I was screwed.
Steve Jobs didn’t like the job at all, especially because he didn’t want Apple to be mixed up with low-end brands and not reflect Apple’s high-end aesthetic. Jobs called Miller into his office shortly after, and the argument is still well remembered by the protagonist. He finally told him to “get out of there and go talk to the marcom department, they made better ads.” Miller He hurriedly gathered his things and, without realizing it, accidentally took Steve’s MacBook and mouse as well..
Half an hour later two security guards appeared, entered the office and handed him a phone. Jobs was on the other end of the line and told him “why did you steal my laptop?” Miller tried to explain the mistake and somehow managed to convince Jobs that he had not copied any secrets from his personal computer. At that point he thought he had been fired and simply returned Jobs’ laptop and mouse pad to the security guards. “I kept your damn mouse”he recalls. To this day, Miller says he still has Steve Jobs’ mouse in his house.
