Displayed from 23,990 euros ecological bonus deducted, the new electric Moke is not really given. It even costs more than a Dacia Spring!
Created in 1964 to serve in the British Army, thehe Mini Moke quickly became a mythical car, used in particular as a beach car in the same way as the Méhari. And like its French rival, with the old Citroën e-Méhari which is no longer produced, the little Englishwoman has also yielded to the charms of electric, thanks to the company Moke International founded in 2018. Originally sold with a petrol engine, the little car finally decided to do without a heat engine a little earlier in the year.
A single version, 100% electric
The small electric beach car is therefore available in a single version, with a 10.8 kW electric motor, or around 14.6 horsepower., which then allows it to achieve 0 to 55 km / h in 4.3 seconds for a maximum speed of 80 km / h, as reported by the brand’s website. It carries a 77-kilo lithium-ion battery, rechargeable in just four hours on a conventional socket, allowing it to travel approximately 120 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.
Logically, it is tempting to compare this new generation Moke to certain current models, such as the Dacia Spring. And for good reason, the low-cost electric city car displays a relatively similar positioning, despite some differences, starting with better autonomy, displayed at 230 kilometers WLTP. The dimensions are also larger, with a length of 3.33 meters for the Moke against 3.73 meters for the star of the Romanian brand.
A salty price
However, the electric beach car has a higher price than its rival, displayed at 29,990 euros, or 23,990 euros once the ecological bonus of 6,000 euros has been deducted. For comparison, the Dacia Spring starts from 19,800 euros, bonus of 5,346 euros not deducted. Quite a difference, while the latter offers better performance, from the top of its 44 horsepower.
Especially since the endowment of the Moke is rather spartan, since it is only equipped with the bare necessities, with the Bluetooth radio and the heated windshield. Note that unlike a Citroën Ami or a Renault Twizy, the Moke is considered a real M1 category carand the driver’s license is therefore mandatory to be able to drive it.
By taking a look at the configurator, it will be noted that apart from the choices of body colors, only one option is available. This is the complete hood, equipped with zipped doors. The exact price of this accessory is not yet known. And for good reason, only pre-orders are currently open, requiring a deposit of 990 euros all the same.
If the date of the first deliveries has not yet been communicated, please note that it is possible to see this new electric Moke in real life in the Casa Moke in Saint-Tropez as well as at the Bon Marché Rive Gauche in Paris, until October 16 in the brand’s pop-up store.
