Android is improving for this month of December with a host of new features. Here are all those highlighted by Google.
Android is about to receive a load of new features for the month of December 2022, highlighted on a dedicated page. They will first arrive on the Pixels before being taken over by the various OEMs, provided that your smartphone has upgraded to Android 13.
Five themes are explored: synergy with several devices, entertainment, messages, accessibility and protection.
Synergy with multiple devices
- Google TV is improving with the ability to cast directly from the app to a connected TV, box or screen.
- You’ll soon be able to integrate a car key into the Google Wallet app.
- A lot of new features relate to Wear OS. The interface for Google watches will integrate tiles for the weather, news, event management, fitness info or a timer. The Google Keep application has also been improved, especially on the visual part where you can now see background images on each note to help distinguish them. Google Assistant will also be able to launch a sports activity.
Entertainment
- A new YouTube Widget provides faster access to YouTube subcategories: Home, Shorts, Subscriptions and Library.
- It is possible to make photo collages from Google Photos.
Posts
- Google Messages will offer the possibility to reply to a specific message in a group or individual conversation. Convenient so you don’t lose track.
- Emoji Kitchen, which lets you create hilarious blends of emojis like this turtle-octopus below, is going to integrate with Google Messages.
Accessibility
A reading mode is coming. This will not just give an orange tint to the screen, but it should allow you to customize the contrast of the screen, the size of the text, ask for a reading of a text or even the type of font.
Protection
In the Google Account portion of your phone, you should soon see a new menu appear with recommended actions to secure your account.
