His Mixed Reality Headset Reportedly Lags, Here’s Why

According to the predictions of the highly respected Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple has decided to postpone deliveries of its mixed reality headset, the Apple Glass, for a few months. The reason is not shocking.

It is eagerly awaited by the entire sector: Apple’s mixed reality headset, which is now called Apple Glass, is causing more and more ink to flow as its launch approaches. Its marketing, in fact, has been the subject of much debate for several years now. But a consensus seems to have been found.

Indeed, several leakers and other analysts are betting on 2023 as the ideal window of opportunity for Apple. For Ming-Chi Kuo, famous for his predictions for the Apple firm, the Californian giant’s schedule has recently been turned upside down. Deliveries of the device would no longer take place at the start of the vintage.

Software first

Initially, the interested party estimated that Apple would begin deliveries of its device in the second quarter of 2023, as he explains in one of his Twitter posts. Ming-Chi Kuo is reviewing his judgment and is now targeting the second half, between July and December. At the time of writing these lines, a year potentially separates us from the deadline.

My latest survey indicates that the mass shipment schedule of Apple’s MR headset may delay to 2H23 because of software-related issues (vs. the previous estimate of 2Q23).

For the analyst, this postponement is explained by a relatively simple reason: software problems. As we know, Apple makes it a point of honor to offer the best possible software experience. It is also in this area that the American company is particularly expected.

See you at WWDC 2023?

For sure, you will never see Apple selling a product whose UX is not developed, moreover on a category of devices on which it is positioning itself for the very first time in its history. Moreover, and again according to Ming-Chi Kuo, the components of the glasses in question will be supplied to Apple during the second quarter of the year.

If this delay is confirmed, then WWDC 2023, logically expected in June, could be an ideal time to specify the brand’s commercial calendar. Event during which Apple could give new tools to developers to start developing uses on its future platform, probably called xrOS.

Apple Glass: the glasses would be 2 to 3 years ahead of the competition
The “Apple Glass” is certainly the most anticipated product from the apple. It is in 2022 that the brand should unveil its virtual reality glasses.
