Ten years ago Tesla began delivering the first units of the Model S, the world’s first luxury electric car. From that moment on, the automobile sector would begin to experience a revolution that is currently not stopping growing.
Little by little, combustion engines are being displaced by electric vehicles in various parts of the planet, as even some countries, such as the European Union, are planning to ban them for the next decade.
However, there is still a long way to go regarding electrification, since in several cities it is still difficult to find charging stations for electric cars or the necessary infrastructure to support a 100 percent electric vehicle fleet.
There are 3 types of places where an electric vehicle can be charged: the home, level 1 public charging stations and level 2 public charging stations.

In Mexico, charging an electric car costs an average of $0.11 to $0.15 per kilowatt-hour or $2 to $8 per full charge, according to the Kia Mexico portal.
This price applies to level 2 public charging stations, known as destination charging because they are ideal if you will stay in one place for several hours; some may also be free.
On the other hand, there are the level 3 public charging sites, where fast charging is offered, since the battery is filled up to 80% in just 30 or 45 minutes.
The cost of charging an electric car at level 3 public stations is approximately $15 pesos per hour.
As explained at the beginning, there is also the option to charge it at home, which is the most common. This type of charging is only possible when you already have the correct lighting installation in 240 volts.
Charging an electric car at home will cost $10.50, but it will max out your battery.
How many electric cars are there in the world?
According to data from the International Energy Agency (IEA), global sales of electric vehicles last year amounted to 6.6 million units, around double that of 2020, and 5.5% more than in 2012, when some 120 were sold. one thousand.
At the beginning of 2022, the IEA estimates that there are 16.5 million electrified vehicles (electric and hybrid) worldwide, three times more than in 2018.
China is the leading country in number of electrified vehicles in circulation. Only last year, 3.3 million units were sold in the Asian giant, 50% of the world total. In Europe the sales figure was 2.3 million dollars. And the remaining million corresponded almost only to the United States.
Electric car production is also dominated so far by China and Europe, with the United States coming in third.
