How to create a route in the Maps application?

To start creating a new route in the Maps app, follow these steps:

  • Go to the Maps app on iPhone and tap on it seeker.
  • Write the name of the place you want to go to, for example “Retiro Park”.
  • Once the application has found your location and that of the place you are going to, tap on Route.

By default the app uses your current location to create the route. In case you want to know how to get to a location from another specific location that is not your current location, then continue with these steps:

  • Touch the section My location.
  • Write what is the location from which you want to start the route.

The application will automatically update with this location and you will now be able to view your route. You can also select the means of transport you are going to use. At the top it is possible to select: car, on foot, public transport, by bicycle or others such as Uber.

How to add stops on your routes?

Now that we are clear about how we can create a simple route with the Maps application on our iPhone, we are going to see how we can add stops to our routes.

  • At the end of the text box – locations where the name of the origin location and the name of the arrival location are located, the option to Add stop.
  • Tap to add a new location to your route.

You will see that once you have added this stop to your route, the option to add another new stop automatically appears. Just click now to add one more stop to your route. The maximum number of stops you can add on a single route is 15.

Once you have finished designing your route, tap on the green button GO to start navigation to the different selected places.

How to change the default way of travel?

Normally the Maps application on the iPhone will always show you the routes to go by car. If you want to change this so that it defaults to showing you other forms of transportation, then follow these steps:

  • Go to the settings from your iPhone.
  • go to Maps.
  • In section preferred type of trip Select the option that interests you the most.

The option you selected will be the default way Maps will use from now on when creating a route. This is especially useful for those people who always travel using the same means of transport, be it public transport, car or bike.
