How to change the location of screenshots on our Mac

By default, the screenshots we take with our Mac are saved on the desktop. An interesting location, especially since we have them on hand to crop, edit (yes, we must be careful when hiding the information of the captures, since there is a very easy trick to reveal the content), send , etc., but depending on the amount of captures that we are going to make, perhaps it is not optimal.

Some screenshots on the desktop, but the rest here

We may take many screenshots throughout the day, we may simply be doing something, punctual, that leads us to take lots of them. In any case, surely the last thing we want is to end up with hundreds of screenshots on the desktop. Partly because this slows down our Mac, partly so we can organize ourselves better.

Fortunately, the screenshot functionality of our Mac allows us to choose where we want to save them. Doing it is very simple, these are the steps:

  1. Press Command (⌘) + Shift (⇧) + 5
  2. We click on Options.
  3. Under Keep in we choose between documents, Clipboard, Email, Posts, Preview or, if we want to choose the folder Another location.

In the latter case, choosing Another location we will see appear a dialog to select any folder. We can choose Downloads, which is one of the few that is not synchronized with iCloud Drive, or any specific folder on our Mac.

The system will remember our choice until we change it again, so we can save as many captures as we want in the new folder. A way to, in some cases, maintain a little more order on our desktop.
