How to know if an egg is cooked without opening it

It may seem like a simple task, but when we do not see the internal cooking state, it is quite difficult to know if the egg is perfectly cooked or if it still needs a little time. We show you some tricks.

One of the most complicated aspects when it comes to boiling an egg is knowing when they are cooked. No matter what experience you have, it is always something difficult to recognize.

However, there are several ways to ensure that the hard-boiled egg turns out perfectly. Well, the best way to tell if an egg is cooked and hard is to put it on the counter and give it a quick spin. If it turns without any problem, the egg is cooked and the liquid that remains inside the shell is minimal.

Nevertheless, if there is a wobble when the egg starts to rotate, this is because there is still some liquid inside the egg. Bring the egg back to the boil for 1 more minute and check again.

Another fairly widespread test is to shake it. If the egg feels solid it is ready, on the contrary, if you notice some liquid inside it, it is better to repeat the process again.

A trick that surely few of you know is the use of light in our favor. The thin shell of the egg should allow some light to pass through it. If it’s not cooked yet, the yolk will be visible. When a boiled egg has a solid white and center, light cannot pass through it and you will be able to see the difference between a raw egg and a hard boiled egg.

However, what many kitchen professionals use for these cases is a thermometer and thus check the doneness. If we take the temperature and check that it is at 70º, this means that we have it completely cooked and perfect to take it out of the boiling water.

The only thing to keep in mind here is not to take the temperature as soon as you get out of the water. Better to let it sit for a minute and check it out.
