Google has spent years investing great efforts in its intelligent ecosystem. Google Home, like Alexa, are usually the options that offer the most facilities to users when it comes to controlling smart home devices or creating automations of all kinds, also driven by their respective voice assistants.
Among the large number of features that Google Home offers, this ecosystem also allows us to detect the presence of anyone who enters our home very easily and with the help of our mobile phones. In this article we tell you how to do it and thus take advantage of this function to create automated routines.
How to take advantage of presence detection
Google Home offers us all kinds of options to control our smart devices at home. Over time, the company has developed a broad and reliable ecosystem in which there is also a place for all kinds of devices developed by third parties. And it is that both Alexa and Google Home are usually the ecosystems that offer the most compatibility with other devices.
Among the many options that Google Home offers us, we also have the option to detect the presence of any person to enter our home and connect to the WiFi network from your phone. In this way, whenever there is the presence of a person, you can take advantage of this information to create automation routines.
So that, If, for example, you enter the house, the system will know and you can make the lights come on, activate the systems you prefer, play music automatically, raise the blinds, and much more. Although of course, of course, for this to happen, you must also have devices that handle each of the examples described.
How to activate presence detection on Google Home
To detect the presence, Google Home makes use of the connections of our mobile phone. Thus, if our system detects that the location of the phone is close to home, the ecosystem will know that there is someone at home, and therefore, it will be able to activate all kinds of previously configured systems.
This option is found in the settings of the Google Home app for mobile devices and tablets. For this you must go to Settings > Presence detection and activate the option. You must also enable the location so that the system detects when there are mobile phones nearby.

The devices that appear in this section will be those mobiles that usually interact to a large extent with the Google ecosystem. To add more devices, you’ll need to invite other people to join your home group set up in Google Home. Each person will need a Google account in order to be able to manage any household parameter from their own mobile phone.
Today we always have our mobile phone close at hand, whether in a pocket or in a bag. That is why, when we get closer to home, the system will detect our presence, and therefore you can create routines based on presence detection.
To create routines, you must go to the ‘Automatic‘ and click on the ‘+’ symbol (or modify any other predefined routine in the list). Once here, in the activators you will have to select presence detection and choose what action to perform once the system has detected our presence.
