We show you in this simple tutorial the way to stop seeing the content of a specific person.
WhatsApp is designed to interact with people we know, since most of the people we chat with are in our contact list. Although there are groups to meet many people, our family and friends are usually the most frequent chats on a day-to-day basis. However, since WhatsApp statuses exist, there is more than one that you would like mute states of certain people.
There is always an aunt, a brother-in-law or that person you see once a year and who spends a lot of time uploading statuses to WhatsApp as if there were no tomorrow. And you, who can’t bear to see that little point that there is new content in the application, enter and realize that you are not interested and it does not contribute anything to your day to day life. At that moment, you decide to think a way to not see the states of that contact ever again.
The states, for the most clueless, have a very similar operation to Instagram Stories. They have far fewer editing options and filters to adorn photos or videos, but after all they are good for quick posts that remain visible on the platform for 24 hours. It is one more complement for contacts to interact with each other.
So you can mute the next states of a contact
If in your case there are acquaintances who upload content non-stop and that do not interest you at all, we are going to have to explain to you how to silence those statuses so that you never see them again. The effect will be the same as muting a conversation on WhatsApp, since when you enter the section to see the statuses, you will no longer see the name of that contact. Don’t worry about your privacy, because the other person he won’t know you’ve muted his statuses nor will there be any notification about it.
Of course, keep in mind that to do these steps, the only requirement you need is that contact upload a new status to be able to mute your updates in the future. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait because they can’t be muted beforehand. Once this is known, all that remains is to follow these steps to silence the states:
- Open the WhatsApp application and enter the section state.
- There you will see all the contacts that you have added in the agenda and that have uploaded photos or videos in the last 24 hours. If that contact has uploaded one, enter the state of your contact by clicking on their name.
- Look for the three horizontal dots that are located in the upper right corner and tap on Mute.
If you don’t want that contact to see that you’ve seen their status, you can also choose to long press state of that contact, where you have to wait a couple of seconds for the screen to react and show you a mute button your status updates without entering the photo or video.
And if you regret it and, for whatever reason, want to see what that person uploads to WhatsApp again, you have the opportunity to correct that action. For turn off that silence after that regret, you just have to follow the same roadmap. Reopen WhatsApp and go to the section state.
At the bottom of the menu, you will see a section called silenced, which you have to press to display the muted contacts. From here on, just long press on that contactat which point a small window will open where you can press the button Disable Silence. From that moment, you will see again the next WhatsApp statuses that this contact uploads, even if they have published something in the last hours.
You already know how WhatsApp statuses work and how to mute the publications of those contacts that do not interest you too much. All the movements you make, be it mute or unmute, will not be known to that contact in any way, so your anonymity is safe. This method, quite simple in addition, is done the same both in Android phones as in iPhone terminals.
