The modality is represented with a tiny briefcase icon in status bar, although the latter is largely unknown to the general public. It usually appears when you try to use some function dedicated to work mode. If the little icon bothers you, here’s how you can remove it from your view.
How MIUI work mode works
The work mode, or also known as ‘Company mode’, is a management tool designed for business use. When you activate the work mode, the system allows you to synchronize the device with the company server.
Once you enter the data provided by your administrator, the mobile will start downloading the necessary tools for the work mode to work correctly. This modality integrates numerous additional characteristics so that the user can work more comfortably. Similarly, you get a higher level of security.
The work mode implementation is ideal for those companies that provide mobile devices to their workers with exclusively work purposes. The modality allows you to apply usage restrictions, delete data remotely, check inventories, install applications and block using passwords.
So you can remove the briefcase icon on your Xiaomi
The briefcase icon in work mode, specifically the crossed-out briefcase, usually appears for a disconnection problem. It may be that the synchronization between your Xiaomi and the company’s server has fallen or is temporarily disabled.
It may also be an error. As explained in this Xiaomi Community thread, the crossed out briefcase icon appears due to a bug in devices that have updated their version of MIUI based on Android 11.
In any case, if you don’t want the symbol on the top bar, you just have to exit work mode and return to your personal account. Similarly, you can also choose to disable dual apps to make the icon disappear.
Disabling work mode is exactly the same as enabling it in the first place. In this way, you will be able to remove the briefcase icon from the top bar of your Xiaomi. The steps to achieve this are the following:
- Enter in Settings > Additional settings > Work mode.
- Click on ‘Deactivate work mode‘.
Don’t know where to disable dual apps? The procedure is just as simple as the previous one. Similarly, you can do it through the MIUI settings:
- Go into Settings > Apps > Dual Apps.
- Click on the dual application(s) you have created.
- Turn off the corresponding switch to disable it.
