Sharing the stories of others on Instagram Stories: the limitation you should know
Instagram allows you to share story content from other users in your own Stories section. This is a functionality that was added some time ago to its official applications for iOS and Android. In this way, you will not need to install any additional software to carry out this task.
However, you do need to be aware of one relevant limitation regarding sharing others’ stories. It is only possible to do it with those in which you have been mentioned. In other words, Instagram does not offer the possibility of sharing any story in your Stories section, but only those that are directed to you.
Now that you are clear about the main limitation of this function, we will give you the appropriate instructions so that you can do it on your own.
After opening the instagram official appDo the following:
- Go to direct messages. It is there that you will be notified that another user has mentioned you in their story.
- Press on the button Add content to your story.
- Edit the story and add the elements that you consider pertinent.
- tap on the button Send.
And you don’t have to do anything else. You just shared a friend’s story on Instagram Stories.
In the previous sections we have revealed a very simple method to share the content of another user’s story in your stories section. Of course, being able to do it only with those in which you have been mentioned is a fairly clear limitation. Is there any way to bypass it?
If what you want is to publish the story of any user, even if they have not mentioned you, here are two recommendations:
- Create a screenshot. Do it while viewing the other user’s content. To improve results, try to view the story in full screen and prevent interface elements from appearing. In the event that it is a video, record the screen of your device. Start capturing before you start viewing the story. Then you can trim it with some video editor for Android or iOS.
- Download a user’s story and upload it to your profile. There are some applications that allow you to download the stories of any profile on your mobile. There are for Android and for iOS. Once you have downloaded the content to your phone, upload it to your profile following the usual steps.
Before proceeding, our recommendation is that you ask the user who posted the story if they give you permission to post it to your profile. You may be able to avoid some other problem by doing so.
