When we renew our Mac we want transfer all data from the old to the new. A process that the Mac operating system itself greatly facilitates so that it is just a matter of a few clicks. Let’s see it in detail.

All our data transferred to the new Mac in 11 clicks

Just as we can transfer all our data from one iPhone to another, it is thanks to the migration assistant that we can transfer all our data from one Mac to another. A process that, although it can take a considerable time depending on the volume of information, is really simple to carry out. Before we start, let’s make sure that both Macs are updated to the latest version available of the operating system. Let’s place them together and with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth activated in both. Also, on the old Mac, let’s make sure, in System preferences > Share, which has a name assigned to it. Once this is done, the steps to follow are as follows:

  1. We start on the new Mac.
  2. We open the app Migration Assistant inside the folder Utilities in the folder Applications.
  3. we touch Continue.
  4. When Migration Assistant asks for permission to make changes, we enter our administrator password and tap To accept.
  5. We select From a Mac, Time Machine backup, or startup disk.
  6. We switched to the old Mac.
  7. We open the app Migration Assistant inside the folder Utilities in the folder Applications.
  8. We select the option to transfer to another Mac and touch Continue.
  9. We switched to the new Mac.
  10. We select the old Mac from the options.
  11. we touch Continue.
  12. We switched to the old Mac.
  13. If a security code appears, we make sure it matches the one on the new Mac.
  14. we touch Continue.
  15. We switched to the new Mac.
  16. We select what information we want to transfer, such as applications, user files, other files and folders, and system or network settings.
  17. we touch Continue.

Now all that remains is to wait. It is a good idea to start the process in the late afternoon, so that the transfer occurs overnight. Once the process is complete, we close the migration assistant on both Macs and then log in to the new Mac with the account we used to start the migration.

Let’s notice, in step 10, where, in addition to our old Mac, we can choose to use a Time Machine backup or a boot disk. If we wish to do so, the assistant will guide us according to what we have chosen.

How to transfer all our data from one iPhone to another

Although the process can take a considerable amount of time depending on the amount of data, the truth is that, although it consists of 11 steps, the process is very simple. A process with which we will have all the information of our old Mac in the new as if nothing had happened.
