This is where folders come into play, but especially smart folders, which are substantially improved in iOS 16. Ones that they gather the content following the parameters that we have configuredso that they are always updated and ready for us to find what we are looking for in them.
A filter of our information to find it easily
Create a smart folder in the notes app is the easiest. First of all, let’s make sure we have iOS 16 installed on our iPhone. From here the steps are as follows:
- We open the Notes app on our iPhone.
- If it appears, we touch the button < Folders at the top right to see the full list.
- We touch the button in the form of a folder and a “+” symbol at the bottom left.
- we touch on Convert to a smart folder.
Arrived here we have several options. The first thing we should turn our attention to is whether we want to include the elements that meet all filters or any of them. This is something we’ll adjust at the top.
Later we can choose to filter the notes according to labels, date of creation, date of edition, if they are shared, if they have mentioned us in them, if they have lists or attachments, if they are quick notes, if they are pinned or blocked and even specifically exclude or include some folders.
Touching each of the filters we can customize it according to the content that we want to be taken into account. Having finished configuring the different options, we touch okay and write a name for the folder by tapping on new smart folder. When we finish we touch okay.
We will see that the smart folders appear in our list of folders preceded by a symbol of a gear. Thanks to this we can quickly distinguish them from normal folders. If later on we want to edit the filters of any smart folder, all we have to do is enter the folder in question, touch the button in the form of three dots and touch Edit smart folder.
Finally, knowing that we can delete the smart folders just as we would normally do, sliding on the folder to the left. Remember that as it is a simple filter on the content, the “contained” notes will not be deleted.
Thanks to smart folders we can classify the content of our annotations in a very simple and efficient way. Seeing the notes of certain dates, filtering by labels or by uncompleted tasks in a list, allows us to easily find the information. Fundamental, because Notes is a benchmark when it comes to saving and ordering it.
